I posted several months ago about suggestions to flush the cow too. At the time, I did not have a very good picture of her, still don't have a great one, but was hoping that some of you may have some thoughts. We flushed her to Jakes Proud Jazz and got 12 embryos out of her at REI in Stillwater, OK. We flushed her again, this time to Get Serious and didn't get a single one. Not sure what happened but the guys at REI didn't seem to concerned. Anyway we are picking her up this week and bringing her home and will probably go back and flush her again late spring. We would like to continue with the purebred business and stay away from breeding her to a black bull. We are hoping to get several replacements out of her to grow our herd. Thanks in advance for any input. Here is her picture and pedigree.

You may want to check out Matlock Shorthorns website. They have a bull they're using and having great success with. They are thinking of sending him to stud and selling semen shares.      Six S Panther. I bought they're heifer calf at CWA this past fall (you'll see her on there as well). A Panther daughter. He'll be a total outcross for you and appendix free.

don't worry about pedigree and breed her to something known for square udder and wide teat placement, longer top neck that comes out higher through the withers, a little bit shaded eye, wider in the hooks and wider spread on her top.

One bull that we think is going to work on those bloodlines, is Ivy League.  We bought a few keystone granddaughters, to breed to him.  We do own Ivy League so this is a biased opinion.  Here is a pic of him and his momma, she is 11 in the picture.

ONE OF THEM WAS THEN BRED TO A kaba LEADER-FULL SIB TO ROSE T-90-AND  THAT ONE WONT BE OVER 1100 POUNDS FAT AND 6 YEARS OLD

Ivy is pretty close to a 5 and a half frame he might be a tick bigger than that.  We had planned on taking him back to Denver, but he got hurt in oct so we couldn't take him.   We almost lost him so hopefully at some time we can get him caught up to take a new picture.  He's at the farm in ok so anyone can see him when they want his momma is there also.

We have talked privately about this female. I would use Sonny for more maternal replacements or you could go retro with her like ROdeo Drive. If you want to go clubby Vegas or Sin City either one would work with her. She appears to have the right body type for Sin city and Vegas. They would lengthen her out and add a little more neck. Will add hair and occassion get some bone. I also would not hesitate to try Wolf Willow Leroy for replecement females. I have some eggs I have high hopes for coming. Sonny might not give you much neck extension but should give body. JMO.

I still think she's a cool old cow.  Tuscaloosa for show calves, maybe a Venture bred deal for more maternal cattle.  K-Kim Cruiser may be an option as well.

On the cow, I'd like to see something along the lines of Vortec, I think the sin city/ vegas deal could be neat too!

To Josh- If I ever get that far west again, I'd like to stop by and look at IL.  But OK is quite a little drive from IL. That frame size is a good size to be in today's world...  What else has the old dam produced?

Most notably Ivy's mom has produced a bull that was bought by  William lane in eastern ok out of navajo.  Mr. Lane sold a bunch of high dollar heifers out him to bedwell and reiman.  He got struck by lightening  year before last.  She also produced a all white show heifer that Allison bond showed in ok.  We have a really good heifers out of her and deerpark leader 13th now.

Hey, OH-- don't be a smart ass if you don't know what your talking about...

the question was geared towards Josh-- J3, concerning the mother of Ivy leauge...  I am curious to see if IL is the first good calf out of that cow, in 11 years... He said she had, had 2 previous good calves, but I asked if she'd ever been flushed.....  <party>

I know she's been flushed since she had IL. And besides, since when was the thread about his momma?

Have you ever know me to be a SMART ASS on this board. I don't think so. You asked and WERE not clear about which cow was being flushed. SO maybe SAY JOSH, has your cow been flushed. And chill out. You could just say OH B that was not my point. No need for smart ass comments.
