Here is a photo of an August 2009 Who Made Who out of a SimAngus cow that is for sale.  I just weaned him and rough clipped him in the squeeze chute.  Is this photo good enough to post on my website or should I keep trying?

Keep trying.  First impressions are everything.  It's not really a bad pic, but I can tell you I would look at the pic and then move on, not taking a second look.  Good luck.

He looks like a nice bull but you need a better pic. Angle is not quite right. Legs are too much under him in photo. Might look the best when his profile is parallel and to camera. It will make him look longer. Make sure he is up headed.

keep trying.  you need the sunlight low and behind you.  you need to raise the camera a little bit and move to the animals right.  the near leg needs to be back and slightly (at least for me) to the left of vertical.  he needs to have his head up, and only slightly cocked towards the camera otherwise their head looks like a hard calver.  you picture emphasizes the point on his shoulder.  i like to take pictures around 9-10 in the morning and have an area in mind to do that.  if you take pictures in the evening, the pics can get a little yellow.  also, use a flash on black cattle, preferably a remote, which you can hold with your right hand to give light to areas in the shadow, like the lower area.  it takes a little practice.  pay attention to what people are doing at the shows who are taking pictures.  notice when someone is trying to get the calf's attention, they have a little noise maker or a broom or something odd to get the animals attention.  i like to get them slightly ever so much towards the object with their snout rather than any other part of their body otherwise it makes them look too stretchy.

there's lots of photo threads on here.

Lots of great suggestions.  Thanks to all of you.  Knabe, your post was particularly helpful.  I have never tried the flash but will give it a try.  I must confess that I got myself in a hurry and that didn't help either.  And Ganggreen, you either had a really bad day or you suffer from very low self estem.

Not everyone uses photoshop.I'd say its used less than more. That calf is pretty good, just needs to be setup right for a picture. Best of luck. Oh and gangreen your negative comments are not welcome here and I think soon neither will you.

Thanks again for the suggestions.  I was in a rush to get something before we cut the scurs off.  Now it will be a couple of weeks before he is back to normal.  I know how to use photoshop but don't like to use it too much.
