I have never posted a question on a board of any kind but my family is at our wits end. We have a heifer that will lead and we tie her and blow with no problems. Sometimes leading her to the barn to tie up or leading her back she will just start running and there is no way to hang on. We have tried tying her up all day taking feed and water away, she still does every so often. This is our 5th year to show and she by far the best we've had but we are frustrated. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You.

Before you even think you feel her want to run, have her take a step to the side.  Relax. Take another step to the side, relax. Do this over and over till you can feel with her want to do it earlier and earlier  a and take a step to the side.  Of course scratch her, sometimes behind the poll, under between her front legs, to the side of her tail head.

Also, take her out for other things away from where she wants to get back to. Variety.

The earlier you can feel it and deal with it the easier it is..  You can try some of this in an enclosed area and just try things on a loose halter, hold, let her move to you release etc over and over.

Work from both sides and ask maher to come around you and have her move away from you. You need to focus on you are moving her and when you do, there is a release. The release she has trained you to give her is that you are in the house asking for help.

When you don't feel positive energy on your part with her with small expectations ,learn that coming on and quit well before that happens. It is really all about you or whoever, being pleasant to be around.

Go get the  show heifer from 4 years ago and tie their halters together, and let her try to run off with her.  When she figures out she can't, your problems will be close to fixed.
