I think the bull has alot to offer to the beef industry as a whole, who knows there may be a daughter of his show up in a club calf sire some day ;) RW

Well if you do decide to put him on the open market I assume that you will post it here, also remember to leak which stud he is at, so next time I go down I35 or I80 I can stop if for a peak..

Road Warrior, he looks like he was definitely worth the trip! He looks like a tank! Excellent bull.
His sire, Mulberry was about 20 miles from where i live when he was being shown, and he was the best RA bull I ever saw. I used Mulberry to flush two of my best solid red Shorthorn donors and I have to say that I have been very impressed with the results. I have also sold two sets of these embryos to the US.
Walkerton looks very similar to his sire at that age. I think you might have a great one there!

Very likely if we put him back in stud he will go to Hawkeye East for a short period of time and then go back out with cows again. We will probably "bring him out" in Denver unless we get a wild hair and decide to go to Louiville this fall. We did have him collected at Genex Hawkeye West on the road trip home.
JIT - Thanks for the comments, I worked the Perks dispersal last weekend with Bryan and he described him as the best son of Mulberry to hit the ground ( I was eves dropping on a phone call while we were out looking over the sale offering) We are still working out the promotional details but we should know what we are doing by this weekend. RW

Hey RW -- if I were to store that cane of Walkerton long enough, does it revert to the HOLDER???????????????
hehehe

He'd be the bull I'd use if I wanted to get some red calves, even looking at him in the trailer that day all wrung out he was impresive!

We'll be testing him for you in a few weeks on 411 -- she's feelin frisky this morning still!

Later -- Terry

the top bull looks great! how is his mother bred and do you have a picture how does she milk and udder structre(pm that info if you would like)

I think the black angus industry needs a revamp like the red has done, red angus i have noticed a change and they have really added more power and bone to their maternal traits really an intriguing breed.

I wouldnt mind breeding this guy to some angus heifers, think he could add some bone and style and still be able to keep the depth of body and maternal traits

Very impressive RW.  The first one looks like a cowman's type of bull.  (clapping)

I don't have a picture of his dam at this point, she is a Glacier Logan 210 daughter ( another reason I bought the bull) Typically they are exceptional milking cows with excellent udder structure. I'm pretty sure that she fits this model as Bryan is pretty fanatical about that. I'll see if I can get a picture of her from him. RW

RW,
how did the Perks sale go?  Where did Perks Red Robin 41R go?  I really like the looks of her.

The sale was HOT! 41R brought $6500, I'm not sure where she did end up going. I was on the phone buying from start to finish and didn't catch where some of them ended up going, my man on the phone was contending bidder on her and I was busy with him and nissed who got her. High selling lot was the full sib to Super Vision at $13,000. RW

Hmmm, I thought she might be a five figure cow, that may have been a pretty good buy.  I might see where she ends up, I'm sure they'll flush her down the road.  She's a spittin' image of my current red donor.  If I could get those two both in a pedigree, I could make some really consistent beautiful red cows.

RW,

That Walkerton is the ugliest bull I've ever seen....  You better just send him to me and let me hide him for a while....  I'd do that for a good friend like you!!  ;D

Looks like as good and honest set of bulls as I've seen in a while.  Good luck with him!

RW..  NICE bulls..

DiamondS, let me know if you happen to run him thru the local sale barn..  I'll make sure he gets at least one bid..

DiamondS and Kanshow - it's nice to know I have such good friends out there towatch out for me! RW

We have decided to put the bull on the open market rather than tie him up for a year with limited semen packages. It is getting a little late for alot of people to be breeding but if you are interested give me a shout. RW

RW have you got the epds on the Walkerton bull? Did you say that you are using him on first calf heifers? Have you priced him yet? Are you going to pull juice @ Hawkeye, Adel? Thanks, Brent

Brent - You can look him up on the Canadian Angus Assn - Canadian Reg. # 1504422 -  he should be registered in the American registry in the near future. EPD's are ....    B/-0.1  W/41  Y/78   M/22  TM/42   Stay/9   REA/+0.02   MAR/+0.15   FAT/-0.01. Yes, he is out breeding heifers right now, I believe in using and proving what you sell. Depending on demand, we may take him up to Hawke East in the near future, I have some in my tank and more at Genex Hawkeye West. I will pm you more details if you are interested. RW

Nice looking set of bulls there, RW.  I think the Walker bull is a little more balanced than the other two, but all should do well in the "new" Red Angus world.

I think that top bull should just be dropped off @ Nebraska Bull Service next time you roll through this way. I'll make sure he's taken care of  (clapping)

If I make one more trip through Nebraska in the near future they're going to make me apply to be a resident! I'll be pretty close to home for awhile (I think ;) )
