I just got home tuesday morning at 7:30 from sedalia.  I had been down to Rob's to a.i. cows and what a great experience it was.  The dam of 329 was absolutely without a doubt the widest assed deepest ribbed cow that I bred.  Quite possibly my favorite cow though was a Sutherland Ransom 179 daughter.  An 034 daughter out of the 322 cow was another standout.  I got to see over 200 of the pairs and was very impressed with the consistency throughout the entire herd, both commercial and registered.  Some of the cows that Rob commented about being questionable on udder and teat design would have been some of the best uddered cows in some herds that I have toured.  I also had the privilege of getting to breed a few of the heifers that Rob sold on the sale that he is holding there at his place for the new owners prior to export and wow were they nice.  Very quiet disposition, deep ribbed, good headed, cowy heifers with very nice tracts.  Anyone who thinks shorthorn can't compete in the commercial sector should take a tour at Rob Sneed's, it would convince the inconvincible.

You bred her  to Captain .... right???  :-*

Gary see video of RS females above... it's random I took it the two mornings I was there, cattle were close by for AI . If you can read the ear tags in the video - I can tell you who they were. Pretty sure the 319 female ( dam of Moores bull) is in there.

Just had a good chat with A@T. 329's dam is A.I.ed to A@T Captain Obvious. Man did that put a smile on my face. A proven outcross on those cattle. I wonder what a bull calf out of that mating would do on a group of black angus cattle. Can you say CAB? This solid red shorthorn mafia is gaining strength. Uh oh <beer>

Rob Sneed, Sedaila MO - 16 miles south of 70.

If I remember right...  It's been a while since I've been to Sedalia... but would this be about 10 miles north of Sedalia???
It seems like less then 10 miles north of Sedalia... He host a stop during SHorthorn U on June 11th.

I plan to visit during the Midwest Stud Ram Sale about the 3rd week of June...  That is, if we go out this year with fuel prices like they are...

SP FOLKS!
If you have a chance and are in Ohio stop at Trevor Gregory Cattle. 329 in person is actually better than his pictures. I had the pleasure of spending some time on Saturday looking at 329 and Brock's otherladies. 329 is extremely sound moving. There was a cow coming in so he was kind of distracted and didn't realy care about posing a whole lot. LOL. He is naturally thick and carries that down his top and through his rear half. Very masculine bull with a super big foot. I have always thought the Trump genetics can put some leg on his offspring. I think he could naturally add depth of rib and body as well as take some of that leg off those gals. There were a couple of crossbred calves in the pasture one Durham and one Angus both from 329. The were exceptional heifer calves. I can see where 329 could be a solution for some of these crossbred show heifers. The son that 329 had running around in the field was pretty nice. He looked alot like his poppa. Easy feeding soft made masculine look. All the cattle were extremely docile and for me the older I get the more important that has become. It was the best bunch of cattle that I have been able to walk in quiet sometime. 329 was pretty consistent in what he put in his calves. You have to appreciate that when you find it in a bull. I am so glad I was able to take some time on Saturday to see the bull. He really restored some of my confidence in potential calving ease solutions in the Shorthorn breed. NOW- no one paid me to say this and I don't want to sound like a late nite info-mercial. But I really was excited after leaving TG Farm. Great to tlak with such a knowledgeable guy and see great cattle. Thanks SUE for the advice.
329 is the real deal. Feel free to P.M. me if you any other questions. I really like this bull.

ps- MR Eagon's bark is alot worse than his bite. ;) In the famed words of Jessica Rabbit he is not bad at all he is just drawn that way.....LOL  ....there are sincere complements in these statements.

Thank you sir. That means alot to me. I welcome anybody who happens to be in the area to stop by and visit. I may have a bad rap on here and that is my doing. But above all, I love shorthorns and I will always be trying to breed better cattle. I had a good visit with Oh Breeder and it was good to talk cows with him.  I am at a loss for words honestly. Im just a little fish in a BIG pond and to get a little acknowledgement that I am on the right path means the world to me. All those times I wanted to quit and give up and be a drunk where low points for sure. But this one little moment for me personally makes it all worth it. If anything it motivates me even more to keep on keepin on. Thanks again Shawn. You sure didnt have to say all this. Come on shorthorn folks! We r so close to breaking through to the mainstream I can taste it!  <beer>

OH Breeder, that was very well said. I would have to say diddo on everything you said in that post. When I visited TG Cattle Company to look at Complete, 329 was there also. I got to look at both bulls hanging out together in the pasture. I totally agree with you that 329 is even better than his picture and that he is the real deal. I am excited about what he has to offer the breed along with his calving ease potential. I got my 329, how bout you?

Thank you Josh. I just got my shorthorn country. I saw Completes add on page 7. I loved it. I hope everybody likes him as much as we do. I have had several calls and emails today. I can honestly say I have never been more excited to be in the shorthorn business. Life is good.

I am so happy for you Brock!  You are very enthusiastic and optimistic about the shorthorn breed and this kind of press could not happen to a better guy!  Way to go chief! <beer>
