thanks.
Great lakes can weigh him. I would be super surprised if he weighs over 1900, he weighed 1550 about this time last year.

This heifer showed two days after this video. The judge  accused my nephew of "filling" her... he is nine and we did not even glue the heifer . My sister had to explain what this meant, he had a great day any how. I'll take a field of 3rd  place heifers like her any day.

I would guess him at a ton or less as well. I have not fed him anything but hay and salt, mineral since he stopped grazing Dec.7. He looks good and has held his flesh well. He has the biggest foot of any bull I have ever had here. His true niche IMO is breeding heifers and improving carcass quality. He could breed any heifer (pretty much) in the shorthorn breed. I hate to say the word so I will say he is unrelated to 99.9 of the shorthorns out there right now. I think his females will be his best feature. Just my thoughts.

As I am putting wood on the fire it hit me...........what will you breed a 329/ Captain daughter to? This is going to be fun. 108 or 4508? Back to captain? 034? My wheels are spinnin. Buster? JG Red Cloud? 7026?  Ok I will stop now. i think we get the point. I see a Captain mating  in the future Im going to guess.

Saskvalley Bonanza 219M would be my choice on this one.

I like the Dividends Impact-and Capt-deal. I would look at low bw breeding that works historically 1: The right Enticer-Arsulu Osage,GB Daybreak Express, whatever Gold Versions have the thickness you want. 2: Some the Canadian deals-they are NOT going to be as small at birth-but youve GOT ROOM-and they WILL carry on the Great GUTS-along with a little more weaning and yearling wts-and frame. 3-Clean Improver-Elbees Wymore Bull,Gator-Dont laff-hes the real deal, and the Highfield Hope x Guinessx Gregg really works on these types. We had a couple JR Walker hiefers out of a Hauserman Gator cow that went right to Gators dam-huge boned, square, thick, but moderate 4-If he takes a good pic-the young caf (78 pound BW) I posted awhile back that will sell at the Kansas Beef expo-HE looks just like Capt Obvious type caf Trevor posted-same low BW-just a little growthier-thicker butted-NO RELATION . O0

CO son, or a different 034 deal (grandson maybe), out of an outcross cow family- something canadian perhaps.  I think you are on the right track though..  Keep in that high quality, 25-50% outcross on the very bottom side, and you can't go wrong with anything (thumbsup)

The female in the video - Dolly 011  will get bred to either Captain or a very cool double bred deal called Lo Rider ( Captain son X Captain daughter) . He is in the PT sale now, but I would love to keep him.

Dolly 011's dam is currently carrying a CO baby.  LoRider's dam is carrying a 329 baby . More then likely both will be flushed to 329?

I do like the Bonanza idea, but I cant afford coyote's prices. :'(

I would like to see another Kieth Lauer bull emerge-look at the deals that have come out of some of his cows-sooner or later-you are gonna need to grow these cattle some-and retain the low BWS-Best performance cattle-and cross-to-show cattle IVE Seen Even Clubby-we had a couple Green Ridge Belker Lauer cows that flat Had some Double Stuff-Double Down-Jr Walkers.Kieth Lauer has been at it longer (as far as real world EPDS_performance) than anyone I can think of-who hasnt either 1: fed the EPDS on and 2:Taken the Goldwalk (Ayatollah and THEY LOOK it in some cases)deal to the n-th power.

I have all the respect for KL, yep toured through ... 4 to  5 frames appeal to me more. My first  semen order did not come from a Shorthorn breeder, life goes and
my audience will always be bigger then the tiny breed of shorthorn.  The beef business is magical and I love it!!

The magic happens when you find one of his older cows-and do something that makes common sense. Got a 5 maybe hiefer showing this weekend-Im not sure what she wieghs( over 800)-shes an April,-paternal sister to the red caf-I havent seen any pics of him lately-hes going to The Kansas Beef expo-which is not the right venue for one like him,if he turned out- but hes the type you use on Lauer cows. They change in one shot. I think a name brand example would be Sull Red Whatchacallit-that Stangle has:-5-6 maybe-but thick the way I like em,and throwing 60-75 pound calves on non" broken record" females.I see the maines as the most improved-usefull cattle base-compared to yestur year. But the Charolais,Simmi, and Hereford -looking variations are cool to me. Color em good. I dont think any of the few Shorthorns I have left will get bred to Shorthorns anyhow O0

The Deer Trail Nitro bull we had was out of a Green Ridge Belker cow. He left some beautiful daughters.  They were frame 6 and 7's.

I keep having this daydream............. Im using genetics from places like Lauer's, Sneed's, Kapers, Coyote, Saskvalley, Lakeside, A@T, Meadowlane, Haumont, Dover, Hubs, Shoshone to build my ideal set of females.............................oh wait, Im doing it agian. I may have issues. I guess its better then daydreaming about twinkies and ice cream. Man I wish I had the cash. Just a daydream for now I guess.
