Thanks, SCF. Are you going to able to make it to the Iowa Beef Expo? Just heard the forcast for the week. Doesn't sound like it's going to be too nice. Perfect for a week cattle shows. Have fun everyone. Brent

I don't know if any of you went to try to find Sailing On @ the Ia beef Expo, but if you did I apologize. Troy, Brooke, & I did set set up the display area Thursday night into Friday morning, but when we got back in Friday morning to fine tune the area we got a call that he would not be coming. He just didn't feel quite 100%, so we decided better to keep him home. Again sorry that we couldn't get him out. We are planning right now to get him feeling well and to get some pics and promote him through the cattle mags. There is a very slight chance that he may come to Ohio, but I kinda doubt it, since we will all be calving by then and don't have a crew to help watch heifers/cows. I will post up accordingly as to where to watch for him.
On a side note, we did show 2 hd of chi x heifers. One stood 8 out of nine and the other one stood, I think fourth from the bottom. I can't remember how many were in class 124, but I do know that it was easier counting from the bottom than the top. I came home though satisfied in the results of the show. The best thing for me personally was the fact that my whole family pitched in and were very helpful with everything all weekend and I can see that things will get better with experience.
Congrats to all that participated. I was in awe of how good the cattle were and am totally fascinated with how well some of the PPL can fit.

Best offer I've had all day and I love pie, all kinds of it. Do you think that you can keep Hook away from that last piece that you're going to be holding for me? I'm trying out your recipe from last week Cathy. It's "brewing" as I type. Brent

That might be hard to do. He wanted me to set up a pie sale table & be the offical taste tester!

Will be anxiously awaiting picyures of your Smooth Sailing calf. I spent 2 days at Kroupa's looking at hundreds of cattle while awaiting the Sweetheart sale and attending the Dakota Classic. Seen numerous Smooth Sailing calves that were as good as any Heat Waves from the past. Brought a Smooth Sailing yearling to Wisconsin to be finished for Kansas City. What a calf!! I hate to say which Heat Wave son might replace his daddy, but so far Smooth has as good a chance as any I've seen. Good Luck! John Okla.TMJ show cattle Wisconsin

From what I have seen, Smoothe Sailing and Carnac, with a close eye on Milkman. Those are the 3 that I am watching and using this year, of coarse with a few bred to Sailing On to see what his calves can do.

Jill,or anyone else, I read on Breeder's world today that Milkman's can come hard. What have you been told? I am going to breed some of him, but it may have quite an influence as to which cows get mated up to him. Thanks, Brent

I really haven't heard much, we flushed to him last year after seeing a couple of steers out of him, we have him in big old recips so they should be fine either way.  I know Justamom had some last year maybe she can chime in.
