Pope's had one in the early Nineties, called RPS Rocky. A real cow maker, when you put him across Angus cows, or something easy fleshing. Select Sires really tried to promote him, and, as far as I can tell, He was the last Shorthorn Bull they tried to Mass-Market.
The thing I like about the Shorthorn breed that Maines seem to lack is the soggy made look they bring. I like everything about the bull except he looks extremely tight gutted, and that to me is a huge minus.
I got one of those new long computer screens so I thought his tight guttedness was a screen artifact! Everything looks so long on it - it is going back....
And it may just be a bad picture, but that' what I thought too and I haven't noticed it on any of the other pictures I have looked at on the SEK website.
He's worth a try. I think his body depth will be better when he gets a little older. He was probably going through that funky yearling stage about the time the pic was taken. He is big boned, cool fronted and good haired.
