Thought I would show you all some of our Simmental babies.
The first photo is a late February Amigo x Pacesetter cow, first calf heifer. He is a bull calf, and has an awesome temperament. We have a first calf Pacesetter and first calf Shear Force (Pacesetter's sire) and I would have a whole herd of them if I could! Best darn cows, milk like no tomorrow, and perfect udders!

The second photo is a March Dominator x Built Right cow. He is a twin to a heifer, and both calves have a hip that don't stop! I will use Dominator again. My only complaint about this 60 day old calf is he has NO neck. I hope he gets one because he is one nice bull!

The third shot is of the two bulls rear ends. I like that view  ;)

The fourth pic is the heifer I talked about in an earlier thread; not a great attitude. She is 1/2 simm, and a bunch of other stuff (beefmaster, horned herford, angus and commercial simm). She is OK, needs guts but has adequate muscle. Nothing special. She is also out of a first calf heifer (the cow in my avatar is her mom). She is a late October (born around Royal time).

The last one is a heifer we got last weekend. VERY SWEET! Needs some groceries, but will make a nice cow. She is a Brooks Warrior x Lucky Dice. She is a November.
Just had to share... When we get the others on halters I will take more photos. These were taken with my Droid...

Thanks for the input! I was wondering if my post had cooties  ;) We are really excited about our calf crop this year, and love breeding purebred Simmental cattle. Our first fair is this weekend, just a little blow and go thing, but the kids are excited !!!

I would take a pasture full of them of them any time, solid, balanced, and well muscled calves.

On the heifer, try putting her on Glu-coat. We had a steer last year that was the same way, we could not make any real progress with him, about 2 weeks into feeding glu-coat he last his edge, prior to that we wondered if we should just give up on him. You could not lead, rinse, comb or blow on him with out him freaking, started feeding Glu-coat and 2 weeks into it he just changed, mellowed out, would let you even comb and blow on his head. (we could not get past his shoulder before that)

No guarantee but it might just work for you, That steer went on to be Champion 4-H and reserve over all.

looks like they are coming along.  Have fun at Fair Grove.  Have to attend a wedding or we would be going as well.  I was wondering if Amigo babies are all lushes like Baileys heifer.  She is so laid back it is sometimes annoying!  Very sweet natured though.  We have been lucky in that area though and all of ours have been really good to and for the kids.  Again, good luck this weekend.

Looks like Rebekah wants to take a whole trailer load! We will see what can fit on! Are you going to Lawrence Co, Ashgrove or Morrisville? Just wondering. I always hate the first fair of the year; I just don't feel prepared. Still got a few to clip!
Oh, our Amigo calf, just drops and lays down in the grass when you try to walk him. Very annoying! Don't know what to do about it...

All our babies are walking really well.  The Amigo just follows the kids around for the most part.  She would be the perfect first calf for a young'en.  Koby's heifer (yearling mo better) has some withdrawal anxiety but with soft/baseball five days a week (two games each day), I havent been able to work with her on that.  I am sure that once school is out, the show cattle will be worked 10 fold more.    Our heifer has never flipped.  The last one that did that knocked the breath out of her and that was the last time.  Dont think it was the fall that hurt.... but that bounce must have sucked.  ;D

OK, a few more taken tonight. The first is our December bull calf, a Built Right X Avalanche cow (our first embryo, I posted pictures earlier after he was first born). Not the best pic, but what do you think? He is just 5 months old and we weighed him tonight - 659 pounds! The second picture is of the calves I posted earlier. The cow on the left, a Built Right x Drake Lilo cow with March bull calf by STF Dominator. The cow on the right is her first calf, a two year old, Pacesetter x the cow just mentioned. The calf is an Amigo born in February. I like that it is mother - daughter nursing together  ;D Both are GREAT cows!

Nice set of babies!  It's so much fun to watch them grow and see what they'll do!

Y'all are going to AJSA Junior Nationals, arent' you?  It's "just down the road" for you this year!

Look good.  I talked to Derek P the other day at Joplin Stockyards and he said you had an embryo from them that was doing well.  Is that the BR calf in the picture above?  He is doing well!

I am not sure about Lawrence County.  We will see.  If everywhere had fuel like here at Stangs in Anderson, it would be easier to drive a couple extra miles.  $3.69 and going the right direction this past week.  Thinking about going to the two shows next weekend.  We just hope to be kinda competitive this summer at a couple of the shows we can make.  Looks like you should do well!  Again good luck at Fair Grove.

Yes, we are going to Nationals. We have been every year since 2008. The cow on the left, the Built Right with the Dominator calf, went to Texas in 2008 as a yearling. She has been to everyone, last two years as a pair (the cow on the right went as a baby of the pair and last year as a yearling!). She is going again this year. Probably the only cow that has been to the nationals 4 years in a row now!  ;D We are also bringing her yearling heifer by Real McCoy and a half blood by BC Lookout. We will be BUSY!

We are not going to any regionals since there is no one close to us. With us hosting the Nationals, getting in time for Regional is tough.

Yes, that is the calf. Adam Owen was over this week to fill our tank and really liked him. Just wish we could get him to walk better. He is such a dud, and a bit big to try and drag! More like he would drag you if you let him  ;)
Fuel was down today; I filled for $3.56 at Walmart in Aurora. We are planing on hitting next weekend also. Good two-in-one day event. Lawrence is our stomping grounds, so we are taking just about everything  Poor me! We have a fair EVERY WEEKEND from now to after Nationals. Busy time of year, but FUN!  <party>
See you on the next one!

Thank you! We are happy with our calf crop this year, just wish we had a few less boys and more girls! Are you going to Nationals? No for us for the regionals, just to much going on...

Hehe, I think we saw her at regionals in 2008, and know we saw her the last two years as a pair. I remember being really impressed with her last year as a mature cow. I'm just waiting for yall to show up with her and a Mo Better baldy heifer calf at side. (lol)
