LOL- if we would ever get a refund I'd be in shock. Won't tell the amount but ours is in the - column & has a bunch of zeros in it.  ::)
What's the reason for holding them back? I heard CA laidoff a bunch of gov't workers.
My brother-in-law after 20 years w/ a computer/software company had his department dissolved. Insurance is going to be the hardest for them w/ their daughter having severe epilepsy.

They don't have the money, the news said they also don't have the money to make payroll on Friday so we'll see what happens there.  I know the state has been making cuts, they have cut 1% out of the school budgets and all of the schools have huge shortfalls

I hope they're paying interest. They add it on if you're late paying taxes.

I wonder since they are putting a hold on paying out money they already owe.. does that mean they'll find out a way to get more from those of us who pay in??

They don't have enough money to pay the payroll for state employees.  Kind of alarming.  I didn't know KS was in such deficit.

i think CA is going to pay 5% interest.

capital gains tax.  if i sell a house that i've paid interest on, how is that capital gains, unless of course i received a deduction for interest and property tax, which is why, one reason i would eliminate them, as well as the capital gains.  think of the stimulation to the economy if they would eliminate the capital gains.  10 trillion would come back to the US.  lots of good things would happen, but then democrats couldn't have the appearance of penalizing capitalism.

Yea, my parents and I work for the University and we dont know if we are going to be getting pay checks.  Wonder if we will get a bail out when we cant pay our morgage.  ???  I sure hope so.  Atleast we took out the loan we could afford when we got paid.

I just did a little google and came up with this.. It's a little bit of a political standoff.    The GOP is trying to force Queen Kathleen into signing the budget cut deal.  Then they'll allow her to borrow from anther pocket ( increasing the deficit) to make the payroll & refunds..    That's my take in a nutshell, someone who understands this sort of thing might be better able to understand it.  Here is an article about it... http://cjonline.com/stories/021709/bre_budget.shtml

The way they explained it this morning, they can borrow legally, but they have to have a guaranteed date it will be paid back and since no one knows how they will pay it back they haven't agreed to borrow it yet.  I just keep hoping Obama takes her, her name keeps coming up, but she's still here.

She signed it at 4:30 this afternoon.. but reducted the cut on education from  $66/student to $33/student.  She also reduced the allocation to the Biosecurity deal to $35 million.  That is if I am reading all that correctly...    so you experts - explain..      It does appear that payroll will be made and I'm assuming the refunds will go out..

The NYT is reporting that she is the cabinet appointee for the HHS position.  I wonder how much back tax she'll have to pay....
