the reason for amnesty is to permanently relegate them to minority and irrelevent status.

i had to laugh this morning, my wife found michael savage, it was funny to see her in a lather.

the world wants america's engine to fail, and with it, it's laws, which ted stevens, sandra occonnor ginsberg etc want to insert world law perspective into the constitution.  when that happens, america will officially be done.  probably without a shot too.

Thanks for sharing, what a great article!  However, I am in total disbelief that this article came out of Pitkin County, Colorado....home of movie stars, mega rich, huggers of trees and purchasers of all unneccessary and excessive.  Wow.

Many a pioneer ranching family's hard scrabble high mountain hay meadow has been sacrificed to park Lear Jets on!  They just drive down the valley in their Jag's and plot how socialism will save the underprivileged. (us)......

sign me, angry white woman!

I agree whole heartedly with that article.  Hopefully it will ring true.  I am not a fan of any of the 3 major candidates but I do think McCain is the lesser of the 3 evils.

here's an angry white man with a reasonable response to world government do gooder bill gates.

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated: "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that get 1,000 to the gallon."

In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release (From Mr. Welch himself): "If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:"

  1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.
  2. Every time they repainted the lines on the road, you would have to buy a new car.
  3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason, and you would just accept this, restart and drive on.
  4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn, would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.
  5. Only one person at a time could use the car, unless you bought "Car95" or "CarNT." But then you would have to buy more seats.
  6. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, reliable, five times as fast, and twice as easy to drive, but would only run on five percent of the roads.
  7. The oil, water temperature and alternator warning lights would be replaced by a single "general car fault" warning light.
  8. New seats would force everyone to have the same size butt.
  9. The airbag system would say "Are you sure?" before going off.
  10. Occasionally for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grab hold of the radio antenna.
  11. GM would require all car buyers to also purchase a deluxe set of Ran McNally Road maps (now a GM subsidiary), even though they would immediately cause the car's performance to diminish by 50% or more. Moreover, GM would become a target for investigation by the Justice Department.
  12. Every time GM introduced a new model, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.
  13. You'd press the "start" button to shut off the engine.

Yeah knabe...........this little funny has been on the cuircut for a good 8 years; but still funny.

What is most interesting to me about GM, is that around 10 years ago they embraced the Toyota Production System, now referred to as Lean Enterprise, but still can't compete.  Of course, anyone keeping up with Production in the U.S. knows the problem to be the UAW.  Non union manufacturers in the U.S. are over 60% more efficient than the rest of the world, and most (the small to medium manufacturer, <500 employees) have not yet begun to implement the principles of Lean.

Edwards Deming, the Father of Japan's Industrial Revolution, developed "Lean" production while working as an engineer for FOMOCO in the '40s.  After WWII, Henry Ford sent Deming to Japan as part of the Rebuilding Team.  Ford was tired of hearing Deming's wild ideas to change Ford's assembly line.  The rest is History.

sorry for the old news, it was the best i could do.

on a different note,  how many health care dollars would you want to keep if say you had a $5000 health care deductible and traded your current policy for one of cover it yourself, but have catastrohic coverage similar to auto insurance and have price lists at your doctor's office for services.  health care is one of the few industries that don't post services before you request them.

the plan would not be universal.  those who want universal have to accept limitations on care, even though hillary says there won't be any, there will, just ask those who have been rationed in canada and england when the budget for healthcare runs out late inthe fiscal year.

For a $25 dollar car that got 1000 miles per gallon, I could live with a few flaws, you just replace it!

jill, i think part of the point by jack welch of GE, not GM as dusty noted, is that this is a strawman argument.
if health care had the same progress, we would have no disease either.  if cattle breeding had the same progress, cattle would gain just by breathing and absorbing the nitrogen from the air.  they would have a daily rate of gain of, of i don't know 100 pounds a day on one mouthful of the worst grass one could find. i noticed that bill didn't invest in the auto industry and change it himself.  typical.
