Well I bought an Angus bull to try on about 18 Shorthorn heifers. He is an GAR New Design 5050 son out of a SAV Bismarck 5682 dtr. She was a 1st calf heifer. He had a 62 lb bwt. His EPD's are CED 15.00, BW 0.0, WW 55, YW 98.

Thought so...saw the DVF brand on the one in the background and sounds like some of their breeding..  (thumbsup)  I've got 5 females from Deer Valley.  One is a Bismarck.  I have used Bismarck quite a bit, but haven't used 5050.  You should like the cross.  I'm using a Shorthorn bull on our Angus commercial cows.  So far I'm extremely pleased with the calves.

He looks like a very well put together bull.  He should work great on Shorty heifers.  I also have used Bismarck quite a bit on heifers and have been very happy.  I have avoided New Design so far.  He's a carrier of the DD defect if that matters to you.  As an Angus guy that's kind of a turn off.  You could always test your bull if you're worried.

He tested clean.
