This has been several years back but just remembered it. There was a baldy steer that was constantly getting spots of missing hair. It was almost always on the same side and had no signs of anything to give a clue as to what might be causing this. The calf was housed at the school ag barn as most of the kids at our school did not have access to other housing options for their animals. After about a month of this going on with no answers a few of us finally found out the answer. The pen next to the steer housed a few sheep. They were the problem. Evidently the calf liked the nibbling a would not move as they periodically would remove patches of hair. Just wondering if any one else has unusual culprits to different problems with their animals.
