Young Heifer complications

Have anyone every had a calf show signs of stiffness after standing up from laying down. Best description I can give is that when my heifer stands up, she is stiff in her front end and as she walks around, she loosens up and begins to hit her stride. After this, she will walk around smooth and show no signs of complication. Anyone have experiecne with this and can shed some insight on what could be the issue? When I purchased this heifer, she was sound as a cat and nothing ever showed up and this began. THanks for your help.

How old and heavy is the heifer? Most often, stiffness, leg problems, and joint problems get worse as the animal (or person) gains weight. Is it very cold where you live? What is the ground like that she is walking on...smooth and flat, or frozen and choppy? Do you notice it more after she has been laying for long periods of time?
