Back to the original point.....if the 4-H kids in the ring were discounted in any way because of the answer they gave to the collegiate choice that judge should be penalized. Not to mention how unprofessional it is to use a cell phone in the ring.
Just like any other job he (the judge) is paid...
When we started selling registered stock I went through the breed associations and found a set of Ethics that I liked and manipulated to my personal situation, I now attach that with the invoice of every animal I sell privately.
In this case, if the breeder expects to maintain his reputation...
We bought two fans that come out of a chicken barn and use them in the barn. They give TONS more air flow than the Sullivan fans we use at the shows. These chicken barn fans were also significantly cheaper than others.
After working in many different dairy, beef and sale operations I will say that pens should never be square. Always be (even slightly) rectangular. If you have one or two cows in a pen trying to corner them for whatever reason, they wil always circles in a square pen no matter the size. This...
I recently purchased a used 18XT Taylor Wharton tank and it is missing two of the six canisters (I have no idea why). I have phoned every semen tank distributor north of the Mexican border with no success....any thoughts or ideas on where i can find replacement canisters?
I am really loving the Capiche calves that I have, I bred 4 F1 Shorthorn heifers to Capiche and they all calved out 70-80lbs. calves. They were small when they were born but are growing like weeds. They have really nice width of base and thickness for their age, but they are a tad short strided...
I have a light weight dog leash that I use to lead with. In Canada, at most shows we have to have two leads on the bull in the ring. I never use it as a pull though. He has never had his ring caught that I know of. Even if i bring the lead near him he freaks out.
I have a bull that was born January of 2013 and he weighs right around 1300 lbs. right now. We put the ring in him in November. When I go to put the lead on him he goes balistic! Throws his head and makes a big fuss. I am afraid to leave him tied because he may rip the ring out. Any suggestions...
I personally love that Broker heifer!! She is the exact type I am trying to breed for.
I also like the other heifer, she just isn't as straight in her lines as that PERFECT Broker calf!
Congrats!
The width of base in the first bull is amazing!! I really like him! I would say that he is a bit weak in the flank though. Has a very flashy look to him!
The second bull is the kind of bull that I would turn out with my commercial cows as he will produce excellent feeder cattle. Maybe not the...
I've had two FirewaterX914 heifers calve out so far to Bluegrass and the calves look really good! They were quite small at birth (69 and 74) but have grown well.
