Now I'm intrigued to know what the angus seed stock guys have for "outcross" pedigrees (or are considering out cross). Our angus herd has pedigrees that are a rare find in Canada....

Bred  onto angus cows...moderate framed, good producing cows....out cross pedigree to anything that is out there. Potentially keep back in herd or market at consignment sales.

Just looking for feedback on current and the next best black Angus sire.

Ditto! We've only had 1 animal out of all the years we showed to do this, a steer...long lariat to a sturdy post,let him run away and he learned fast he wasn't getting far running away.....

The way we have been tie breaking for years is running them into our chute alley and tying them up with neck ropes only! Also feeding them. They can only go back and forth within the alley if they try to fight! After only a few days this way and having them get fed every time it doesn't take...

I will say (from my observation) in the last 15-20 years since I showed Jr and 4-H you see vertically little of the defined Fullbloods in the Sim's. Growing up its all people brought out, whether 4-H or local fairs.....but I also remember when "black"(at least up here) was the color to have and...

XBAR I see what your saying and value that fact, since I've been searching Sim bulls I've noticed that(and kinda scratched my head)....i guess fullblood is a word to better describe a true "purebred" in Simmentals... Do other associations allow for % registration- I see Chi and Maine...

So if I understand your opinion correct XBAR, purebred to purebred (of different breeds) is not the best F1 option anymore?

Hmmmm the sexed semen does make me think......cause I never thought of that.....is it more $$$ ?? I just realized too THAT any bulls I find must be eligible  to ship to Canada......sigh!

Any Simmental sires recommended? Lower birth weight/easy calvers ideal since they will be first calf heifers.....
