He's out of a son of The Man on a first calf Tyson heifer. He will probably be for sale down the road.

    THE FAIRNESS POLICE

I'm a firm believer in the idea that the only way to make the show "fair" is to remove all rules. That way nobody is cheating and everyone has equal opportunity to do whatever they feel is necessary.

    Show Barn Design --Opinions Wanted

Hopefully this picture will work out better. By the right side being open, I meant there is no wall. I like the idea of a 14' ceiling height. Our current building that we use for cattle is 60'x120' with a 36' lean-to on one side. we use the main 60x120 part for hay and equipment storage and the...

    Show Barn Design --Opinions Wanted

Also, when designing this, how big of a turnout lot do you think is optimal? The pens and lots will be used for show calves (bulls, heifers, and the occasional steer) as well as overflow calving and such. Plan on using these pens/runs as weaning pens too. Thanks.

    Show Barn Design --Opinions Wanted

I have spent countless hours researching and trying to come up with what i believe to be a nice show barn. We already have a barn suitable for working cows, so this is strictly for show calves. Opinions wanted. It is kind of hard to see in the pictures, but the entire right side except for the...

    Selling calves off the cow

I have a guy that came out to look at a bull calf and ended up wanting our top purebred angus bull and purebred angus heifer as a package deal. It has been a while since we have sold anything directly off the cow (usually everything we offer is sold through our sale or at a show). What would be...

    Top 5 cows

I believe the dam of WCC Gunsmoke should be in the hunt for the top five as well. She is the mother of the 2008, 09, 10, 11 national champ chi bulls. Pretty good in my book.

What is your ear tagging method?

We like to put the Sire ID at the top of the tag. Written largest and in the middle of the tag is the calf ID. The way we do it is real simple. It is 4 digits long. The first number is the month they were born in. The next 2 numbers represent the number they were born that year. (if you run more...
