    Equipment

Does anyone still use the classifieds on this site to market used equipment anymore? Our family will be done later this spring and I have some stuff to sell, but I'm not going to waist my time listing it if nobody will see it.

    Some People!

Thought you folks might find this interesting. I've known of this situation for over a year now. http://newsok.com/yukon-vo-ag-program-faces-allegations-of-skimming/article/3680282

    Feed Consumption

I am having a finisher ration made by a local grain company that we use year-around for my kids show steers. Right now it is costing me $440.00/ton bagged. I add Essential Beef Designer to it for 1/2 pound per calf per day. I was talking to a Purina rep about a month ago who was telling me that...

    Help!!

Long story here, but I'll keep it as short as possible. Last weekend we took our steers to get hooves trimmed. We also took a friend and his boy along with their heifer. When we got there, the heifer needed to be haltered, so my son (10 years old, 70 pounds soaking wet), my friend, and his son...

    Leroy Brown

What's your experience with these calves? This is the 2nd year in a row that my daughter has bought one. Mainly because they've been relatively in-expensive. Both times, they looked just ok when we went to pick them up, but as we go, they just keep getting better and better. The one she had last...

    Like new Fan Cage

I have for sale an expandable fan cage. Lighter tan Sullivan's, but just as stout. It was built by a friend of mine a couple of years ago, and looks factory made. Located in NC Oklahoma. (580) 532-5406.

    For Sale

I have a shop-built expandable fan cage for sale. Looks very much like a Sullivan's, but without the expanded metal ends, with tie-ups in front, and spots for 2 fans. We used white neoprene so that wood shavings would not push out of the sides, and would be lighter to put together/take apart...

    Fan Questions

Just wondering if you guys knew the amperage requirements to run 2 fans. Also, I have some cheaper used fans that I bought. I was wondering when the motors and blades eventually give out, if they can be replaced with Sullivans or Blue Ribbon Supply parts, or do I just throw them in the junk...

    "Remember the 10"

Just thought I would share this with some of you guys. It's the halftime tribute to the 2 players and support staff/flight crew that lost their lives in a plane crash just outside Strasburg, Co. 10 years ago today. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohAbusBCTfw (angel)

    Politics

After reading all the posts on the airing, it made me think. How much does politics affect the outcome of shows in your area?

    Paul Clapp

A fellow by the name of Paul Clapp from Iowa is supposed to judge the Oklahoma Youth Expo in March. Does anyone know who he is, and what he will like/use?? Thanks

    Soundness

How much are judges this year discounting animals that can't walk? Seems like I've seen a bunch of cattle lately that look really good when they're standing still, but when you get them on the move, they are FAR from fluid in their movement. It's almost like they see a big butt and pretty neck...

    Lots of hair

We have a fall born steer that will show as a fat this spring that has hair like a yak. O0 We are working hair quite often every week. Have any of you clipped your cattle this time of year for no other reason, than to speed up blowing time after rinsing? Thanks

    Holding one early

We have a steer that since we got him, we've had him on a high fat ration to stunt him because he's a bit framy. I think we are to the point now where he will start putting on fat and not grow taller. Right now he is about 50-50 1/2" hip height, and weighs 1050#. We are somewhere in the...

    For the electrical gurus

How many amps do a blower take? I was thinking of making a 220 extension cord for the barn with (4) 110 outlets coming outto run 4 blowers (2 Sullivan Y's). It is on dual 40 amp breakers. Surely that would be enough, wouldn't it? Thanks!!

    Push or hold??

What's you guys' opinions for market steers? Do you buy older cattle that you can finish early, or do you like to feed younger cattle that you can hopefully get fat in time for market shows? Please add reasoning for your decisions. Thanks

    Clean water tank

Anybody have ideas on how I can keep the green suff out of our calves water tank? We tried goldfish, but they keep dieing, I think because the water gets too hot, and not enough oxygen in there. Any chemicals that would work, that won't hurt the cattle. I don't have time to drain it everyday...

    Melatonin

I have a few questions about using melatonin. Do good-haired cattle benefit from it? Does it really help calm one down? Are the daily crushed pills really cheaper than putting in implants once a month? Which gives calves better hair, melatonin, or a good mineral program. Sorry for all the...

    Stunting

My son has a Sep. born steer that weighs around 650-670 and looks like he could get kind of tall. I have talked to several people who have told me we need to switch from a grower/developer to a finisher along with some extra fat. I'm not worried about hair, as we don't start reall getting...

    Looking for used fans

My kids are looking for a couple of used fans, or some cheaper barn fans. We bought a couple of Maxess fans off of wpenrod last year, and are happy with them, but I just need 2 more. I called QC supply, but it would cost an extra $100.00 to ship from them, so I don't know that it would be that...
