    This Year's Show Bull

I thought we'd dig a bit deeper this year for the National Angus show we are hosting in Manitoba so I went to the pasture and pull this guy from 45 pairs in mid august.  N7's Sandman 17D is a son of SAV Resource (I know, another resource son. boring).  His dam is a daughter of Tokach Update...

    NYK Bull Pictures

It finally warmed up enough to snap some pictures of the bulls.  One kid is sleeping in the idling side by side about 10 feet in front of the bulls and another is watching movies in the barn while my wife and I frantically try to clean up bulls and take pictures.  Life with little kids is all...

    SAV Resource Herdsire

I know another Resource post  ::) but I always find it interesting to look at an animal at their 3 stages of development all side by side.  Here's my SAV Resource son NYK MacGyver 5C as a calf, as a yearling, and as a 2 year old.  All pics taken at the end of October at MB Ag-Ex. p.s. I...

    Herd Bull

Stopped in at my parents' place for a tour and snapped a couple pics of one of the herd bulls.  I posted them on Facebook and it seems to have stirred up some conversation so I thought I would share here.  Sired by SAV Pioneer off a TC Stout 407 cow.  2014 model so he's 3.

    Best Deal you've found!

Grant's post got me thinking.  What's the best "deal" you've ever found.  A diamond in the rough that you brought home and really worked out for you?  Post yours! I've had a couple but the best was this cow, Soo Line Georgina 1101Y was the best deal for sure.  Bought her for HALF of the sale...

Here's a heifer I've been keeping in my back pocket all summer.  What do you think?  Good enough for the show road?

    Summer Show Pics

The summer shows here in Manitoba are in the books.  We've had one of our best runs ever.  Now it's time to start making plans for the big fall shows but before that I thought I'd share some pics of the string. Something Different - Limousin Show Heifer

    Bismarck Female - Flush Ideas

Well I've done the unthinkable and offered up my favorite cow on the farm for sale.  We're offering a flush on her and now I'm getting all kinds of questions on what she should be flushed to.  You guys on Steerplanet are usually good at coming up with some creative ideas.  If you happen to have...

Photos from the Great White North (pic heavy)

It's been -30 or colder here for almost 3 weeks without a break so I haven't accomplished much other than taking some pictures.  The cows and calves seem happy regardless of the weather.

    Got the Bulls Pictured

With the amazing weather we've had over the past week, I finally got the bulls clipped and pictured.  What do you think?  Which one would you pick? p.s. more pictures of the "Great Canadian Wind Fence" for Librarian and Oakview

    Flush Option for Angus Cow?

OK Steerplanet, we're planning on flushing our National Champion Cow.  Any great ideas for sires to flush her to?  Realistically we will be flushing to an Angus bull but I'm open to other suggestions (if only for interests sake).  Don't just throw out names, I'd like to know "why" as well. FYI...

    SAV Bismarck Female

Since it often gets brought up about what calving ease bull to use on clubbys and Bismarck is often mentioned, I thought I'd post a couple pics of my Bismarck 2yr old.  The first pic is about three weeks after calving and the second is mid summer.  If you don't like her, that's ok but she's...
