To get a good smoke colored calf, use a black colored cow with a Charolais influenced bull IE Milkman. I have a Full Throttle cow (black and white) that I AI'd to MilkMan last year and got a great smoke colored heifer out of her this year. Very thick and sound with great thick smoke colored hair.  A frind of mine used a Full Flush cow and AI'd it with Milkman also and got a great smoke colored steer that is extremely thick, was the high seller of the Casper College sale this year here in Wyoming.

Out of the new 2010 bulls im most excited about trying is Trading Favors and Mile Hile.

Speaking of Charalois influenced bulls has anyone else used Uno Mas.  We bred a group of SimAngus cows to him with good conception rates so far.

Yes, Uno Mas is out of a Heat Wave dam and sired by Alias, he is a nice 2010 bull, so it will be neat to see what his calves look like next year. He is a smaller framed bull to bulls shuch as Milkman, but has a nice shape.

It looks like both being out of black moms got a black from mom and a red diluter from dad(YJ). So just because the sire does not have a black to give to the calf they got one from the dam.
