H-C left rib. Also have a brand registered for a family owned cattle co. called Circle 7 Cattle Company and this brand is 07 . We haven't used this one for several years now.

I think most traders scoff at brands?  Do you brand your clubbies that will be for sale?

on the right hip.  Dwayne has had it since he was a young kid --- long, long, long time ago!  State law requires that everything be branded.

This is a brand that my Daughter has drawn up for her self. I was trying to think of what to call it and all I have come up with so far is J Hooking K. Any ideas or better suggestions?

Mines a P over Y hot iron brand on the Left shoulder.  Its an adaption of my Great Grandfathers brand that was  a PY.  And yes all the steers I sell get this brand.  I feel it is a good form of advertising,  its taken a few years but people have begun to recognize and attach this brand to  my cattle.

Great form of advertising if you own that position, not if you have the rib or hip!  JMO

We have two of them. The one that we use on everything is the V5 brand on the right rib (non-show side). We only brand out bred females, so we never have to worry about the brand on show calves. The other brand is C-V which is my grandfather's brand. Both of these brands have been in our family since my great grandfathers on both sides of the family immigrated to teh US.

Really cool seeing some pictures of all the neat brands here on SP! If we brand one of our calves anytime soon, I'll be sure to get a pic.

Tony, you make a good point about location and for my province I'm the only guy that can have that brand in that location.  I had tried to register the same brand as my father and grandfather, it was a left hip brand, but it had already been registered for every other spot, except for a right rib ----- never ever would I put that brand on a show calf.  I wasn't even crazy about that hip brand on our purebreds when we showed.

RW, OUCH! Bet you felt that one for a while. Cool brand dori36!

Thanks.  When I moved to WY and decided to get my own brand for the cattle, I went to Cheyenne, to the Brand Office, and sat and drew brands, submitted them on the spot, and did it over and over until I came up with one that was available where I wanted it on the critter.  Rib brands aren't as well thought of as some think they damage the hide right where the best cut of leather is for tanning.  So, on the advice of a good rancher friend, I went for a hip brand and got it.
