    Kentucky Derby

They do run them too young.  They're not developed yet and can't handle such pressure espcially what they are putting on them.  The Ky Derby is a mile and a quarter and most of the contenders had only been in races where they ran a few furlongs 7 here or there.  A furlong is only an 8th of a...

    Pour on wormer

I can understand that.  Injectable being more acuurate than pour on when it comes to parasites inside them, but not just the regular mites, and nasty grub that cause them to loose their hair.  In the fall we use injectable womer and pour on in the spring.  I dont know why my dad does it that...

    Pour on wormer

We usually dont use the generic...we use dectomax, but due to this WONDERFUL ;D economy we have we are using the generic brand this year...Ivomectin...and yes it is a heck of alot cheaper...200$ verses 45$...i think...dont hold me to it but there is a HUGE difference.  Jamie

OK pig people what do you think

I dont have any but I do judge them and they are some winners.  The black and white one especially...they can stand some competition. Jamie

    Kentucky Derby

I have watched the movie about Ruffian.  I bawled my eyes out (and I am not emotional).  Especially in the end when she breaks her other leg because she thinks she is still racing.  How sad.  I stepped outside to finish clipping a calf thinking I had about another hour left but when I came...

    Here's to you Red

OMG...that is so cute.  I am setting for a neighbor who has a mini snozer.  I love those things.  In two years I will own one since the parents don't like pets in the house.  I'll need someone to keep me company when I am away from home though. Jamie

Here is something that a good ole country whooping will help out.

Like I have heard so many times...I would never see daylight if I did that.  At the age of seven my youngest sister is seven...wow...I mean she can drive but if she just hauled off down the road because she was mad...shoot I cant and WONT even do that now and I am legal. Jamie

    calf nursing question

You can milk them down if she is easy to handle that is what I would do.  If she is going to throw a fit I would let it go and the calf will eventually get to the other two teats. Jamie

    Back from U of I

Brainwashed...yes somewhat...but I still know what I like is completely different from what they like and place on top.  They want the tallest basically for cattle and sheep or goats and the longest with the biggest ham for the pigs.  That is simple, but it is the keep cull class that I...

    New Calf Pics

Shes heavy on one leg...off balanced with color.  But very nice pattern.  Oh ya we have been having good weather excluding today of course.  Possibility of tornadoes.  It has been coming a gulley washer since morning and has not slacked a bit.  Feel like I am starting to float down stream. ...

farmer wants a wife tv show

I dont have cable.  We haven't had for quite sometime.  There is no point in it because by the time we get in we eat take a shower and go to bed.  So we really dont even need a TV. Jamie

    Back from U of I

Murray is only an 1.5 from me too, but it just goes to pre-vet.  So I was thinking about going on to UK but if I can just go to U of I and get it all through with I will be good.  My aunt went to murray for a pre-vet and that has been at least 10 years ago and she still gets job offers from all...

    Back from U of I

Thanks OFS.  Sounds like you guys are good too.  I didn't really plan on judging in college, but I have two more years so I'll see where it takes me.  I really just want to Murray and get my schooling in so I can come home.  LOL  One girl from our school was pretty good and shes got a year to...

Anybody out there with a 12 year old daughter????

Wow, now I know how my mom felt.  Only 4 years ago I was that pain in the rear for my mom.  Don't worry it is just that akward stage we all go through more so girls than guys as for hating their mother.  I remember not being able to go a day with out having a fight with my mom.  It will get...

    Back from U of I

I got in at about 6 from champaign.  Our FFA team won 1st in section and decided to head to state, but once again I did horrible.  I guess their whole style of judging is different.  I don't know why but I scored horribly on the Keep Cull classes (scoring 30 31 and 25.  worst i have ever done). ...

    Horned or Polled

For our purebreds we check them throughly at a few months old.  If they have horns then we paste them which suprisinly works very well.  But the big thing is to use a polled bull.  I have also heard about the you need the horn to get the butt deal but like someone else said that is not the...

    What kind of Mineral

Yep.  That program is a simple one to follow.  And it works for us.  For our commericals we use vigortone fescue balancer though. Jamie

    HELP! I'm new at this..

1st of all there are alot of different kinds of good feed.  You just have to find a brand that fits your budget and works with your animals.  I prefer a show chow mixture or showmaster.  Have had great luck with both.  But we do mix our own feed.  So we have our own ration to go with. We use...
