They her herd of angus,  I've never seen angus that are white , red & white, black & white. Also grass fed is more tender than corn fed?

And you'll notice, it was just simply another attack on the beef and slaughter industry. #1. Those were dairy cows being killed. #2. You can have low stress livestock in feedlots too.  ::)

i call that free advertising.  where's the redistibution?
I think knabe might have a point. If they get twice as much for their grass~fed beef, shouldn't they be sharing their unfair profits with the guys who feed grain??

Correct me if I'm wrong; But wouldn't we run out of meat and land if we grass feed all the animals for market; because it take's much longer to feed one out.

what the "liberal" side is doing, is regulating their competitors, driving up their costs, so they match the "good" producers.  the media sucks it up because the only thing they are capable of doing is posing everything in an either or format.

as far as i'm concerned, i've had it with the "whether you like it or not" liberal mindset.    more bipartisanship under democrat only rule is, well, just requires a revolution.  that's what the 2nd amendment is for, to boot out the dictators, divide the country if necessary because it is divided now, why fake it anymore?

if we keep having abortions, we won't run out of meat.  the quicker liberals can be held account for their own economics, the sooner this will be over.  socialism requires capitalism to pay the bills.  the threshold of proof is mandated to be lower than any other method.  therein lies the discrimination.  the left is ALL about discrimination.  why do we need to treat anyone different?    why do they need to steal words?  why do they need to steal?  why ask why?  it's so divisive and racist.

Not sure the news video wasn't more than propaganda to promote grass finished beef and highlight bad downer cow handling.  We need to mock the media for mixing the two topics and also mock large dairy farms and packers that handle the downer cows so poorly.  As an industry we really need to focus on good, low stress, cattle handling methods consistant with behavior and for the most part I think we do a good job.   Poor handling does occur and it is an issue we can't ignore.  Additionally, I find it interesting that they forgot to add how tenderness is effected by age and activity.  I doubt the market will shift to select grade shoe leather tender ribeyes.

and aging.  but then, the media can't really be depending upon to get the facts anymore.  that's why their market is shrinking.

Well, if you have the time and $$$ to raise and perfect grass~fed genetics that actually do decently on grass, then I think you ought to go for it. However, grass genetics are just like breeding for show or grain fed genetics. They require different things to make them go, and I think that "organic" raising of meat, eggs, and milk simply wouldn't go on a large scale because we have perfected making animals that grow fast and put out as much product as possible. That's what is needed to feed and help grow such a huge country. Well, that's my little 2 cents worth. Sorry for taking so much room.

While obviously the whole story is pretty much a laughing stock, it just amazes me what consumers will believe.

I did however get a good chuckle out of this post on their "I bet that this made Monsanto's hair stand on end when this aired on a FOx station. Go grass fed! " .  Way to know your battle there buddy.  ???

I almost called that lady last night after watching the video to see what her genetics were, how the cattle graded, how long it took to get fat?  I am guessing that the only reason these cattle have less cholesterol etc and are supposedly more healthy is that they aren't fat. Or don't have the marbling that a feedlot steer does.  I would take the pepsi challenge any day of the week over a grass fed vs. corn fed high choice ribeye and I gurantee I could nail it everytime.

some grass feds out here "harvest" at 24 months. too much genetics optimized on converting high density starch.
