with the administration and republicans unable to agree on anything to stimulate job creation what would you do?

this link to me is about republicans and democrats.

for me, phase out subsidies, tax breaks and safety nets for all at the federal level.  since the federal government skims 10-30% for infrastructure just to maintain any program in addition to the state infrastructure, i would start there.   i would also phase in a form of the flat tax and eliminate capital gains as well as corporate tax.  this would have several effects.  first and most clearly, dismantle most of the IRS, some accounting compliance infrastructure, provide more stability to the tax system and free up massive amounts of capital that could be deployed at the whim of individuals like buying show cattle and show supplies.

here's a different take on how much tax people are paying.  though not necessarily accurate, it at least identifies siphons of your earned dollar.

You want to fix our country's issues? Step 1 is to do away with career politicians.  Our legislative system was not set up or intended for people to make their career out of it.  It was intended for people just like you and me to get elected to go and vote on our neighbors behalf when it came to taxes, laws, etc.  Remember all those wars our forefathers fought way back before we were our own country.  They were trying to get us out of the same situation we are in now.  They were tired of being ruled by a system that thousands of miles away, that taxed them without any type of representation.  We are now ruled by a system in Washington, DC that once again taxes us without representation.  Most politicians these days could not even properly tell you which actual territory they represent.  They go to school to learn to be politicians, which basically tells them how to get elected, then they graduate and either go to work for an elected legislator or they become one themselves.  90% of Washington has no clue what life in the real world is like, and most of them arent actually from the areas they represent.  They will move in order to get elected easier or to get elected in an area that has more pull in order to advance their political career.
Once we limit the terms for ALL legislators, Step 2 is to cut their salaries.  What sense does it make, those people dont rule us, they work for us.  Yet they tell us how much they are going to get paid.  They can increase their salaries anytime they want.  The other thing most people are not aware of is that in most cases, once a legislator is elected and starts collecting that at least 6 figure a year salary, then they are guaranteed it for the rest of their life, their children dont pay for college, and they family gets free health care.  So thinking about that, do you know how many tax dollars the combined salaries of all the legislators in this country eats up every year?  Getting that under control would put a huge dent in our national deficit by itself. So we need to rein their salaries back into something that is logical, and we need to set parameters that they only get paid when they are in office.
Step 3 after you fix all of that, or maybe this should be step one, is for all of the American people to wake up and smell the roses.  So many Americans  take what they media says as the truth, and while they may be able to provied facts, that swing those facts to say what they want to say.  Plus so much of what the American people thinks matters doesnt amount to a hill of beans.  Take for instance gas prices. Presidents dont set gas prices.  I have probably  seen a hundred signs and such lately with one side or the other touting how they are going to have more control of gas prices and keep them cheaper.  They gather their facts from the same sources, but the republicans are able to swing it and make Bush look better and the Dems are able to swing it and make Obama look better.  Its brain washing, not only are they getting Americans to believe what they say, but they have convinced them that things they talk about actually matter.  They use those tactics to keep Americans focus on something else and off the true issues in the country.  And the media pics sides and helps out.  What we need Americans to do is actually research our country and politicis and make educated decisions based on the facts and not what the media puts out there.  But then again, we are probably officially the laziest nation in the world so the chances of that happening are slim!

So humor me on this idea, it's not a fix all, but what if we got rid of political parties?  It would be John Doe vs Joe Smith.
