What do you think about her and her partial clip job???  She is a high % Maine, with Angus, and Simmental in her.  I was thinking about either breeding her to a Maine or an Angus bull. Who would you breed her to? Thanks a lot for all of your help in advance

Nice heifer. who is she out of? I would probably go angus because she looks to have alot of bone and to be a good heifer. I would look at either Northern Improvement or their is a new bull called Raptors Revenge and I have seen his first calf crop and I am impressed.

I have paper towels in her ears so I could clip her, and if you don't work with her every day, she gets to be a nut case. She is out of BFW Whiskey Echo (bull from Bill Walter's If I remember right) and PWC Playing With Power, She is a great grand daughter of Hall's Legacy plus. She is registered 62.5% Maine

I do like her. Around here people would probably just say she is a black baldy, we dont really have any maines around here. So those paper towels are so she cant hear the clippers. Good idea

Yes, I also Blind Fold her with my jacket when I have her in the chute, other wise she is always really nervous, and won't stand still.

Would there be any Pha or TH in  BK Power Plus or Vcl MS lexus pedigree??

Nice heifer, she is cut kinda high in the flank so Id use something that will bring her flank down some.
PM me and maybe we can talk about our young black bull on her???
He will definatly be low birthweight. We also like to use red angus bulls on young heifers.

BK Power Plus is PHAC but his full brother BK Intense Plus is PHAF and also a calving ease bull that throws good females.  I am planning on using him on some heifers this spring.  The clip job looks good, post some pics when you finish her.

Thanks you for that comment, I have only clipped one other calf from start to almost finsih , so That means a lot ;D Also How do you guys clip the under line and the hair by the tail.  For the tail my clipper guy normally clips one pass on each side of the tail, with a #10 wide, and then he blends it. but how far down and how far up do I go??

I would use a heifer bull to give her a few more guts.
I like Dream On for Simmi's.
I also think that OCC Legend would be great for her. He would add some rib and depth of body.

I think SS Traveler 8607 T510 is another bull that would work well with her. Grow and small birthweights.

I have used Northern Improvement and the calves are fancy and hairy. I think the traveler bull might add a tad bit more body.

Her calf would still be mainetainer eligble using either angus or simmi.

No, there is no % Angus program, but the calf could be registered % Simmental.

Angus to your Maine heifer she would be eligble for Maintainer. NO percentage angus.
Maine there is an upgrade chart at the maine sight on line.www.maine-anjou.org
Simmi- she could be registered half blood simmi or foundation simmi. I have NEVER had any luck with the Simmi association they are HARD to deal with.

Tyson, Rocky Balboa don't have much info on calving. Hard Core, check with some others on here. From what Ihave heard he doesn't make them very small.
I like Star Power, but he is new this year.
First year = Live Calf. Go with PROVEN calving ease. Trust me on that one.
Dream On is PB Simmi. You would be able to register the calf as simmi.

I thought star power was an 04 model?? and isnt tyson an 05 model?? She will be breed the first of april (so I will have some time to decide on which of any of the newish calving ease bulls I want to use) .  That way they would be calving at 22 month old.  How much should they weigh when you breed them?? She weighed 830 lbs on febuary 3rd. When do they normally come into heat(age wise)??

Yes Star Power is an 04 model and a Dream ON SOn. Haven't hear those bulls as being committed calving ease, but I don't know much.

Heifers can come into heat anywhere from 6 months of age and up. Age body condition and genetics combined usually determines that. Some british breeds come in heat earlier than continental breeds. Since you have a crossbred, I would say that when she hits 6- 9 months she should have a heat. Don't worry though if it takes her til she is a year old. Most folks breed when heifers are 14 months or so.It really depends on how growthy she is at that age. Its okay if you wait til she is alittle older.
