    Rank these calves for fair!

My kids are trying to pick their fair calves for next year.  They show at a fairly small county fair.  Click on the link to rank their possible calves.  The survey will show the cumulative results for fun. http://www.quia.com/sv/712434.html

    Calf eating show halter

My son's market heifer is continually licking and trying to eat his leather show halter while he practices (his first year showing).  This is way more than the normal lick here and there.  Tonight it was for about 20 minutes straight. Is this just because or is she needing salt?  She has a salt...

    Solid Gold calf...trouble breaking

I have a Solid Gold heifer that I am trying to break for my kid's 4H market heifer.  She has been crazy from the beginning!  She immediately tried to take me and not the "I'm going to bluff until you leave me alone" type....the only reason she was stopping is because she was hitting the end of...

    Clubby Sexed Semen

Where can one go to find sexed semen for clubby bulls?  I have searched the archives on Steer Planet, but haven't really found a good source.  From what I have read, there aren't a lot of options and it is more expensive.......

    Market show minumum weight??

What is your market show minimum weight to be able to sell?  Our local fair is 1000 lbs. and it seems to be on the lighter end.  My daughter had an extremely short, small framed heifer this year and it weighed in at 1200 lbs.  We did have a steer weigh in at 1068 lbs a couple years ago that did...

    Hip Height- Fair Classes

How do most fairs split up market steers for classes?  Is using hip height very common or mostly by weight?  I have seen both and it seems like hip height allows the judge to compare the calves better and faster, especially in the area of muscle and finish. How exactly is the hip height...

    Slick Shear Bulls

What sires do you feel work the best for slick shear shows?  Or does it matter....a good calf is a good calf?  ??? This was a topic on here about three years ago and I got some ideas from the old posts, but wanted to see if things have changed since then.

    Carpe Diem Calf Pics

I like to see pictures of all different types of calves so I'm going to post some of mine.  I have crossbred cows (3/4 Angus) that are going to weigh 1350 lbs or so.  We just started dabbing into AI'ing for our kids to show at our local county fair (which is pretty low key). Carpe Diem Calf
