We have used both showmaster and honor show chow feeds with good results.  I now feed Purple Bound from US feeds.  I like this feed much  better and the cattle seem really do great on it. 

We used one about 10 yrs ago, we used less than half of the trailer, it worked but we went through a ton of fuel.  Would be rather expensive to run with todays fuel prices.

I bred 5 bigger simmi/angus 2nd calf heifers to smokin joe, I had hard pulls on 3 of the 5, calves ranged from 93lbs to 110lbs.  Calves seem to grow slower than some of the other calves born at the same time.

I have had 2 so far this yr.  Both 80lbs out of bigger simmi/angus cows.  Calves are small, less bone than I wanted, but very clean fronted and up headed calves.  Will try to post some pics soon.

The one thing I am glad we did in our new barn was to install in floor heat in the washroom and office.  You never have to worry about wet slippery floors in the winter, we heat our home with an outside wood burner so it was very economical for us too.
