    Norforlk Results?

I am assuming the Judge was Krisha Custis. She is an extremely talented livestock evaluator. I've seen her judge numerous Swine and Cattle shows and really excels at both species. She judged for Butler and Colorado State and is now a Regional rep for Moormans feeds. Krisha not only does an...

    American Royal Livestock Judging

I don't know if the team that Ryan judged on won or not, I had not started judging in College yet. However, as a coach, Ryan won 3 National Titles in 3 years at A&M then took 2 years off and has since won 3 Titles in 3 years at Tech. He will be going for his 4th in a row this year.

    Who's got Wrestlers out there?

Something not many people know about me is that I wrestled for 16 years. This included a year of College wrestling as well. I wasn't near the most athletically gifted wrestler out there, but I dang sure wasn't going to be outworked. I was a slightly above average wrestler in high school and just...

My Sympathy To Road Warrior - INFO

For those of you that never got that chance to know Darby, you truly missed out. Even in the short time that I had the opportunity too, I was able to find out what an amazing and outgoing person she was. As hard as this is, I want to thank RW for giving me that opportunity. Without him, I...

    Colorado State Fair

Brent, I don't have their number but I believe they have a website for their magazine "The Showtimes", that might have it listed in it. Took the team down to the Colorado State Fair and it was an excellent show. Not huge in numbers but the quality was good. Vickland's still was really good and...

    Facebook

I'm on there. Don't know how much longer I will be, but for now I am. Jim Latoski shouldn't be too hard to find. Profile pic is one of me dancing with my judging coach's daughter at his wedding!

    Biggest regrets

I do not have many regrets because of some have said on here what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. We are sinful and un-perfect by nature, so therefore we are bound to make mistakes in our lives. It's how we deal with these mistakes that makes us who we are. I tell my judging kids...

    Genetic Defects

Even the RA breed is contaminated by number manipulation. EPD's are IMHO a marketing tool, Use a high accuracy AI bull, put his calves in the same contemporary group as the progeny of the bull that you are trying to promote - trash the AI bulls calves data that you turn in and turn in...

how fat should breed females be?

Justin, I understand your dilema entirely. I've judged some fairly competitive county fairs that have had a few families that show nationally and they had their heifers way too fat and I beat them in class. Much to my surprise the families were actually very cordial even though they were...

how fat should breed females be?

As a judging coach and person that has the opportunity to judge many fairs and shows, this topic comes up quite often for discussion. First of all, I sure hope that a breed association never has the power to tell a judge what he should place more emphasis on. That would be ridiculous. Secondly...

Some things you may not have known....

Things are good. We have one more contest left  in Houston. This year has been a little bit of trying time, as I only had 3 freshmen left when I got here last year, then cobbled together enough people to have a full team, only to have 2 of them quit at semester. I've learned a lot about myself...

    weather in SW Nebraska

Frostback, We are in NW Kansas, so pretty close, I'm only an hour or so from Cowboy. We're extremely wet right now. We've been getting rain for last 3 days and that turned into snow overnight. Plus, as you know the wind can sure blow out here and it has been blowing pretty hard for about the...

    judging females hefiers and cows

I'll weigh in here a little bit: 1. I think first and foremost, like WBar said, Structural Correctness is the most important trait in a breeding female, although Volume or Ribshape is also very important. 2. Biggest thing to stay away from: That's difficult to say, I guess going along with the...

    need a hereford steer

Try Morgan Hereford's out of Burwell, NE. They had some really good steers last year and had a pen of them in Denver. They don't keep a lot of bulls, mostly A.I., but sell quite a few good steers. Definitely worth a look. We were up there practicing before Denver last year and I think they had 5...

I could come up with 2 different lists, one for all-time and one currently. So I guess I'll do that. All Time: George Strait Chris Ledoux Don Williams Johnny Cash Garth Brooks Currently: Casey Donahew Band Stoney LaRue Charlie Major Wade Bowen Cooder Graw All of these are in no particular...

what were you in high school? or are now?

I was many things, but the main thing would be OVERINVOLVED. I played 3 sports (Football, Wrestling, and Baseball), FBLA and FFA Officer, student council member, and a peer counselor/big brother. Also in 4-H, showing cattle for 11 years and sheep for 5.

    Did you buy anything today???

Jill, It was nice to meet you finally. We didn't make too many stops, but did stop in at Boyle's and John Sullinvan's. I also really liked the Hannibal X Double Stuff Heifer. Another heifer I really liked there was the 702 red heifer. Boyle's had a nice set of calves with my favorites being...
