AJSA is a great thing and the "Junior Nationals" are a wonderful experience for the juniors. But it really pisses me off that there are people that think it's okay to bring a professional fitter ...while their kids stand around watching him fit for them. Tacky and totally unprofessional.

I've had a set for years.  Bought them when they first came out.  They come in handy if you need to make a few "repairs" waiting at the ring, but otherwise not so much.  I have three batteries, so it's no problem having enough time, but they are awkward to handle until you get used to them...

That's funny... we used to use those 15 years ago.  They only work well on slick cattle, but nothing works better on a Brahman. I didn't think Sully's even carried them anymore.

That is nuts!  I don't get spending that kind of money on a steer?  What happens if the calf doesn't win somewhere?  What if he goes off his feed and doesn't finish on time?  I have to say the steer "business" is pretty much out of control in my opinion.  It sure makes it hard for hard working...

Lol... yup Shoal Creek did get some nice ones.  He was bidding against me more than once.  But they have deeper pockets and more hay than I have.  <cowboy>

There were some Upgrade heifers in the Midwest Made sale yesterday.  Open heifers. They were good, but not the high sellers. Personally I don't think he's going to have as much of an impact a hoped. We'll have to see what the females do as they begin to produce.

There were a BUNCH of heifers in the sale, and not many breds.  The prices were pretty much what they've been like at every other sale in the past few months.  10% go really high, and drop substantially from there.  Not a lot of "mid range" things.  Some good type heifers that sold under $2500. ...

If you have a special situation like this, the Texas majors are good about working with you on early releases.. especially for juniors.

I thought the sale was down this year.  After the "usual" high sellers, the rest of the stuff went lower than I've seen. There were some competitive heifers that went under $3500. The economy sucks for most people.. it's hard to justify spending a bunch on cattle right now. And of course here in...
