    College or No College

Was in your same shoes back in 1988.  I made the decision pursue a non-agricultural degree.  I figured that if you have an ag degree, it could limit you to jobs the ag field.  However, with a solid ag background, a 'normal' degree can still get you a job in the ag business sector.  Hope my...

How long does your fair take to send you the check from the sale??

That's insane.  If you have two or three buyers that haven't paid, why would you hold everyone's checks?  If the buyer that purchased my kids steer hasn't paid, then delay our check not everyone elses.  And let me chase our buyer for their check if we need to.

How long does your fair take to send you the check from the sale??

I don't think anyone is looking to attack them, we simply want to make the process better.  We sold calves in Denver last year and the check almost beat us home.  How long is reasonable?

How long does your fair take to send you the check from the sale??

Hello all - Just curious, how long does it take for you to receive the check from your County Fair sale?  Our sale was in mid July and we will be lucky to have our checks by the end of September.  This seems like an awefully long time but it would be helpful to hear how long it takes at some...

Two open heifers - need opinions on selling

Do not think we AI'd during the right time of their heat cycles.  Used the CiDR time breeding protocal for first attempt, used Lut for second.  I work long hours and it's tough to catch them in standing heat.

Two open heifers - need opinions on selling

I have two heifers that I will be selling.  Need opinions please.  First heifer is a My Turn heifer out of a solid Angus cow, born Feb 09.  She very deep sided, soft made, and smooth shouldered.  We AI'd her in May and July but she did not stick.  Next heifer is a Hannibal heifer from a cross...

Schaefer Cattle Cooler or Sullivan's Turbo -- Which is better?

Just bought two Schaefer fans.  In my opinion, they are just as good.  They also cost about 30 bucks less per fan.

    cidr protocol question

The CIDR should still work effectively, assuming you used either Cystorelin or some other form of GnHR to start the cycle.  There are a number of CIDR protocols, although I believe most include utilization of GnHR to start the cycle.  I'm not a vet or professional AI tech, this is just my...

Need grooming advice for steer with limited hair....

Our county fair is a month away.  Our steer has very limited hair, although he had plenty until mid-May.  He is under fans, although not in a cool room.  Does anyone have advice for products and/or supplements that may be helpful in adding shine and or a bit of hair growth?  Also, not quite sure...

    Holding steer

Just weighed our county fair steer today.  He weighed 1280.  We have just about 30 days to the fair.  He still needs a bit of cover over his ribs, although he has a decent finish otherwise (a bit of fat starting at his tail head). Any advice on feeding him for the next 30 days?  Was thinking...
