2010 Fall Babies - A Few Photos & a Bunch of Initial Observations - More Photos

Our Troubadour calf was frail when we was born this spring, but has came on well.  He just needs some hair, I don't know that he'll get it being out of an angus cow.

    best clubby smokey bulls?

We will have some Troubadours out of Ohlde genetics in spring and fall of 2010.  I'm sure looking forward to seeing them.

AI Sires- Dial up BEWARE a BUNCH of pictures

I've never been to any facilities outside of REI's, but I've been stopping by REI for 10 years looking at bulls and never have I thought the facilities were lacking.  I think people are taking the condition of the pens and/or condition of the bulls from a few pictures and blowing it out of...

    Carney Man

We've used him on a few ohlde bred heifers and had good success.  I don't think we ever pulled one, and I know we never lost any.  I can look tonight and see what the birth weights were.

    Show Cattle Camp

If you are too far to haul your own calves, they will provide a calf.

how do you improve your conception rates?

We also use Vita-Ferm with Concept Aid prior to breeding.  REI was impressed with it the first time we had them out to flush.  Our donors don't necessarily produce any better, but the recips sure are in better condition and we rarely have a recip that has to be kicked out. What is the price tag...

    MONOPOLY

I will use another bull if I can't get Monopoly semen from Matt or a reputable distributor.  I guess I wasn't too clear on that above.

    MONOPOLY

We had a young cow that produced 35 eggs her first flush and fertilized half of them.  It just comes with flushing, its hard to say what it was until you get a flush history on the cow.

    MONOPOLY

I talked to Matt Lautner just yesterday about Monopoly semen.  The amount he has in his tank was already spoken for and he was delivering, but as previously mentioned, Monopoly is at REI being collected.  I was just looking for a few straws for a flush, so after hearing Freddy's experience I...

Older Low % Crossbred Cows - What Would You Do With Them?

I'd go with the Ohlde genetics.  If you are keeping the females for replacements, they will be as efficient as anything out there and the steer calves should also be marketable in the feedlot.  We have a small group of ohlde cows that are bred to carneyman, whiskey, and aftershock for...

What does CARNEY MAN work on? What does ACE IN THE HOLE work on?

We have used Carneyman on ohlde bred angus females with good success.  We have used him a few times (1-2) on heifers with no problems.

Best place in US to raise show cows and calves?

I'm 10 minutes from the kansas border on I35 and we usually start calving the 3rd week of August.  It can hit 105-110 during that stretch, pretty brutal on a heat wave baby that doesn't find the shade.  We try to make sure everything is under shade by 11am on those days.
