    livestock saying and quotes

The best I have heard to date was from my dad......he was looking at a bull and the owner started to push for him to buy it......He was no where near the type of bull dad wanted and to put a stop to it my dad asked the breeder " is he broke single or double". Needless to say that ended the sales...

    Hill Country Classic Sale

Nice picks Jaimie. There is a world of opportunity in this sale. I have 2 Matlock cows in my pastures, who without a doubt are my best cows, easy keeping, eye appealing and great mothers. Look closely at the 1X bred yearlings pedigree. She's out of a full sister to Matlock NL Lisa, Little Cedar...

    Glenford shorthorn bull sale

Bought a heifer from these folks at Agribition last fall. The first Glenford genetics for me to get first hand knowledge with...........asking myself " why did you wait so long". These are cattle with guts and butts.

    Canadian cattle

If you want to throw some colour in, you might consider Speckle Park..........take a look at PAR Ranch or River Hills Speckle Parks and see what you think............I'm using a Speckie bull on my purebred Shorty cows and getting an awesome club calf out of them.......you won't be disappointed.

    Opinions on Canadian 4-H Calves

Nice calves. You will be happy you bred to Walker. I have the bull calf that was reserve to him as a calf at Agribition. We used him last summer on our Speckie females and on all my purebred Shorty cows...................I have 3 crossbred calves on the ground now that are in my opinion the...

    Canada Shorthorn People.

Well said JIT. Exactly as I see the cattle from coast to coast. That's the definition of  Insanity you were mentioning. I see it down in this end of the country, and not just in the Shortys either.

Cover of January Black,OOPs I mean Shorthorn Country

The front cover of the Country didn't bother me at all. I personally think it was a great choice of pics. Only seeing a pic of the heifer I would say she is an animal that I would most definitely like to see up close........she looks gooood. Perhaps some of the folks on here who are bashing the...

Glad to see this thread. I've been itchin' to go see the new one............wifey doesn't want to as we have the original. Watched the original over Christmas and had forgotten the talented actors who were in it along with THE DUKE. Robert Duvall, Dennis Hopper and Glen Campbell were young men...

    Canadian Shorthorn people

I know Bamberry Shorthorns bought a number of cows at the Suddaby dispersal bred First Blood. They got along very well calving. The calves grew and passed most of their calves. They sold a bull calf to another breeder in the Ottawa Valley and he's using him on bothe cows and heifers.

For us oldster's- What were you like in high school?

Small farm community upbringing here. My nickname through high school was " little fat farmer" definitely what I still am. At that time though I was anything but. I was a jock. Track team, cross country, volleyball, hockey. Funny thing of it is, I could run and skate circles around. My Junior...

Some herd sires from the past

Been busy over the last couple of weeks with Agribition and then a little thing called my day job, so now I'm just getting caught up on here. The Louada bulls and Scotsdale bulls certainly bring back alot of memories from my childhood. Had a nice visit with Emerson Clarke at our Annual meeting...
