    Smooth Sailing birthweights?

Three born this spring.  Unfortunately all heifers, out of 3 different bred cows.  All went 10 days over and averaged 88 to 95 lbs.  Never touched a one.  Same cows were bred to Heatwave last year, had heifers then too.  Compared to last years calves Smooth Sailing look like they will be deeper...

    Nurse Mate ASAP for Calves

I agree with everyone else that this is a good product. I would add that warming it it hot water makes it eaiser to give and it also helps if you give it to a scouring calf .

    leroy brown bw and info

Only had 3 this spring. 2 bull calves 7 days over 90lb range, unassisted out of Maine x cows. A little to much white for me. 1 heifer backwards, 100lbs 10 days over. all black out of a purebred Maine. Calves are thick enough and above avg. hair.

    K & A Dispersal

Spent some time with the K & A catalog today ( cold, snow & blowing). Was really impressed with the cattle. I'm curious as to what Lot 6 will look like and the Maverick bred females.

    TH and PHA testing questions

Red , I think you were right that it takes a little longer if you do not send the check with the samples . I just called to day and got my results over the phone they were waiting for billing before they sent out the results.

    Flushing

While the pic is fuzzy, she looks like a heck of a good heifer. Why the rush to flush her ? You could breed her a few time to see what works and what doesn't. Then flush her when she is in her prime year 3 or 4.

    AI

I AI for a set time period usually 40 days, then turn the bull  out. AI % has been running around 70 %. Any cow that does not stay on the first return with the bull makes the short list for culling.

    Smokin Joe?????

I know I'm in the minority on this bull, I 'm not saying he's bad, but he has a specific purpose in my mind and that is for a heifer bull, nothing wrong with that.  When you get that heifer calf out of him, what are you going to bred the next generation to ? If you are breeding Maines your...

    Smokin Joe?????

I think  with his pedigree and  the way the energizer cattle breed he will be a very good heifer bull. However to get that super calf it is going to take one heck of a female.

Bulls to help me reach my goal.

Joe Boy, I don't know much but I'll tell you what I think. Heard an ad on WNAX radio that Derouchey is selling commercial heifers bred to DCC Smokin Joe, must be something there as he is a double bred Energizer. I think the following programs are more performance oriented and market to...

New Pictures for the Catelog: Which one do you like and why?

I agree that the background and panels are distracting. However, I think #3 really show what mass this bull has in the rear quarter, his length of spine and his completeness throughout.

    FCF offerings

It is nice to see some different pedigree's in a sale catalog. If I could I would take a look a lots 17, 20 , and 47. BKDJ Backdraft 721J  is a carrier but the rumor mill says he might not throw the TH gene as off en.
